Playzone
PLAYZONE is our play-testing area. In the PLAYZONE we offer a program which allows people of different ages to become familiar with game play and game-based learning principles. In the PLAYZONE we let collaborate our volunteers with designers, teachers and other professionals in a dynamic and constructive environment.
Gameschool
The Institute of Playstudies is working on the development of a GAMESCHOOL with an emphasis on digital-game based learning. The school will use game design and game-inspired methods to teach critical 21st century skills and literacies.
GameLab
If we want to keep up with the actual research on learning, literacy and new media studies we have to move over the strong text-based approach and understand new media literacy as participation over different contexts, times and spaces as well as and over multiple forms of media and platforms. At the GAMELAB we work on the research and development of frameworks and models linking the (learning) architecture of games and other sophisticated collaborative software with key 21st century skills to enhance learning, collaboration, innovation and productivity.
Management
/ Enterprise 2.0
If you look for the most sophisticated collaboration software available anywhere you will find best examples in today’s multiplayer online games. Game psychology is increasingly understood as a huge untapped resource for improving motivation, engagement, collaboration, leadership and innovation. At the Institute of Playstudies we investigate these qualities of games and game play and offer consulting to help enterprises develop a game strategy optimized for their challenges and workforce for both the commercial and non-profit sector.
Homework
Instead of replacing traditional teaching methods, the use of playful technology can augment teachers’ possibilities for engaging and teaching young learners. In our HOMEWORK workshops we focus on the idea of teachers as learners. In the workshops we examine how digital technologies provide opportunities to enable and support the process of teacher learning, helping to ensure that the potential of ICT does not remain untapped as well as the right use of technology in the classroom and beyond.
